Sowmya heads Corporate Social Responsibility & Partnerships at Samunnati, a specialised Agri value chain enabler that provides innovative financial and non- financial solutions to the agriculture last mile. She brings over a decade of experience in working at the intersection of socially responsible business, impact investment and philanthropy. At Samunnati, she is responsible for building strategic partnerships and advancing Samunnati’s work in making markets work for smallholder farmers in India. Prior to this, Sowmya has led the Corporate Social Responsibility practice at Société Generale GSC and set up the function and streamlined the CSR policy, grant management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programs. She has also structured the employee volunteering program to create awareness and encourage high participation of employees in corporate citizenship activities.
She has analysed and recommended growth of inclusive business models across critical sectors such as education, clean energy, agribusiness, financial services and healthcare across South Asian and East African countries for global foundations and DFIs such as the Rockefeller Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Shell Foundation, International Finance Corporation (IFC), NABARD and GIZ. Sowmya has participated across platforms as an expert speaker and authored several thought leadership articles on social development sector in India and on CSR.
